Friday Roundup #16-20

It has been an odd week. I am now off each Thursday for the duration of the pandemic, may it soon end. However, being off a day, up then back in for one day before the weekend is really strange. I still did some work, but hey, it’s what we do to make sure things tick by on reduced staff levels.

This week, I did take a break from crochet work. Just two days, but I needed a rest. Partly, this was down to my decision to rip back 25 odd rows of work to correct an error. But also, I was waiting for my new yarn for said project. Needed to allow me to progress to the next section. If I had not stopped for a break, I would be forced to stop because I didn’t have the yarn.

It all worked out in the end. I cracked on with the redo of the work, pleased I was using the correct stitches. It helped give a better shape to the work. Tonight I reached the end of the first section.

This image was before the divider section. I liked the next bit as the stitch worked up a little like a twill weave, with elements of the stitches forming a diagonal progression. You can’t see it in this picture. Of course, it wouldn’t be me without going wrong again. Super!

I have a habit of doing this. I miscounted the rows. Having created a lovely division section, I moved onto the the next piece with more Front Posts. And watching TV, I got into a flow and just carried on. Even thought I thought it didn’t seem right.

As you can see. Even then, I decided, I’ll do the next row with the colour change. I like this red yarn. Some may think they don’t match up well. But I am happy with it. It kind of reminds me of raspberries and blueberries, with these colours. Just the colours, not the pattern.

So, where did I go wrong. Well, the border should be wider. That miscount on the rows makes a difference. Tomorrow morning, that’s 5 rows coming out. I would like to point out, this is not a fault with the written pattern. That’s fine. The fault lies with me not concentrating or counting properly.

On to other things, we have been enjoying our walks this week. Lovely sunny weather, although it’s raining now and tomorrow. Here are some pictures.

Lovely old church
Bluebells in the hedgerows
Old lead mine – black and white conversion of colour photo

I am hoping I’ll be able to head out tomorrow at some point. Shopping is needed though, so that needs to fit somewhere in my day.

Take care, stay safe and well and happy crafting.

    1. 🙂 Despite all that we are going through at the moment, it is spring and I love this time of the year. And going wrong on a blanket is not going to get me down. Glad you think the colours are ok. This yarn is , I think, end of line so I have little choice, and because if that I decided I wasn’t going to get stressed over it. I hope your painting came out well.
